Deion Sanders, Charlie Ward, Bo Jackson… all multi-sport athletes.  While I’m the furthest thing from athletic, you can see the value of a truly multi-media player in any broadcast outlet.

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to stop by my website.  My name is Kevin Barnhart and I’m a man that wears many hats. Currently, I’m still working in radio at Magic Broadcasting as the APD and afternoon host on WYYX-FM, 97x in Panama City.  In 2012, I was invited to come work for, and hired on, as a photographer at the ABC affiliate in Panama City, WMBB-TV.

In my broadcasting career, I am/have been (get ready…) a news photographer, editor, radio personality, assistant program director, imaging and commercial producer, webmaster, social media specialist, brand ambassador, graphic artist, and writer.  With the next opportunity, I’m excited to work with a staff in a capacity that most benefits the team.

I started my broadcast career in 2003 at the NBC affiliate in Panama City, WJHG.  During my time there, I also went to college, majoring in Digital Media Technology.

In June 2005, my transition to radio began as I started what would be just over a month-long internship.  In August, the radio station cluster, then known as Styles Media Group, put me on the payroll in the programming department. I’ve stuck around through ownership and company name changes.  As far as my on air name, it’s been a radio name I’ve used for pretty much the entire time with 97x: ShortBus.  So if you see the occasional “ShortBus” reference, that is the reason.

In June 2006, in addition to my radio responsibilities,  I began working with Tourist Network, a collection of TV stations around the southeast dedicated to tourism information.  Although quite the change from the news industry, the programming became an outlet to explore my creativity with television production.  I worked with Tourist Network in my full time capacity for a year, at which point I decided to put more focus on radio and work with Tourist Network as a freelance shooter and editor.

What happens next?  I’m looking forward to expanding my career in other markets, into working with a team that can see the value of a truly multi-media player.
